How Can I Lose Weight FastHow can I lose weight fast is a question that I hear a lot. Of course, this sounds natural. Yes, people want to know how to lose weight as quickly as possible. What is the fastest way to get rid of these extra pounds? Is there a quick way to do it? These are among the many questions clients want an immediate answer to.  The best way to lose weight fast is to cut down on calories and increase energy output or expenditure. In other words, reduce calories consumption and increase your physical activity- walking, swimming, exercise- to help with the energy balance equation and ultimately, lose weight! This is great. Is it really that simple one ponders. Let’s take a look at how I help clients lose weight and feel good about themselves when doing it.

At Nutrition Wellness, as a Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist, I focus on teaching the energy balance equation and help clients really understand the foundation of this principle. Once understood, we can move on to more detailed nutritional lessons that will build upon this knowledge, thus in turn, leading to the desired weight loss. A very big part of this is reducing carbohydrates- breads, white rice, pastas, and increasing lean protein – fish, chicken, lean meats and include more high fiber foods such as vegetables, fruits, etc. Eating lower amounts of carbohydrates and higher amounts of lean protein are key to weight loss and are an important part of this weight loss journey as I will further explain.

Is It Hard To Lose Weight Fast?

Incorporating more physical activity will help tremendously on your weight loss journey. It is important to make sure that you have physician’s clearance before you start on any exercise program. At Nutrition Wellness, as a Registered Dietitian, I encourage walking on a regular basis to help clients reduce their daily calories and work towards optimal health. Making sure you aim for 10,000 steps a day and keeping track of this with a pedometer is part of my program.  Eating more of the right foods, increasing our physical activity, and decreasing simple carbohydrates are key factors to losing weight, and ultimately, loving oneself. Once we physically transform and start losing the weight, this aids us in our mental, emotional and spiritual transformation and we begin to love ourselves more compassionately.

What is intuitive eating and how can it help us lose weight? It is the art of honoring your body’s hunger signals and knowing when you are satiated or full. This means not eating beyond your limit! This also means not eating those extra bites of food just to clean your plate- but, stopping when you feel full. This is KEY. Ask yourself are you truly hungry? If not, stop eating and engage in another activity. Do not use EATING as an emotional crutch to numb any other pain that you may be experiencing. Engage in other activities or take up a new hobby.

Eating lower amounts of carbohydrates and increasing lean protein consumption is very important on this weight loss journey. Knowing what foods to cut back on is also very vital. Foods such as breads, pastas, rice, sodas, chips, candies, sweets, need to be reduced or cut down dramatically. Increasing one’s lean protein- fish, lean meats, chicken, eggs (watch your yolk intake and focus on egg whites). The less simple carbohydrates in the diet, the better for weight loss and overall optimal health. Adapt this mindset- “Eating lower carbohydrates and higher lean protein” will help guide your intuitive eating plan and guide you on your weight loss journey.”
